Martha Cassell Freeman

On Sunday March 30, 2014, Martha Freeman, 94, beloved wife of the late Van Freeman, went peacefully to be with her Lord. Born in Easley, SC, the daughter of the late John Ervin Cassell and the late Lucy Morgan Cassell, she was a long time resident of Greenville and belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church. She loved her family and had a lifetime love of learning, music, and the natural world.
Surviving are two daughters, June (Ron) Baswell of Taylors, SC and Becky (Terry) Wofford of Piedmont, SC; two grandsons, Bryan (Carlee) Wofford of Charlotte, NC and Kevin (Cortney) Wofford of Raleigh, NC; a granddaughter, Christina Baswell (James) Cook of Greenville, SC; three great-granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are one sister, Ollie Powell of Greer, SC; two brothers, John Cassell of Wellford, SC and Edward Cassell of Hagerstown, MD.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Freeman was also pre-deceased by four brothers, Grady Cassell, Luther Cassell, Ernest Cassell, and Carl Cassell; and by two sisters, Bessie Boggs and Clovie McCall.
Memorial services will be held in the chapel of Cremation Society of SC-Westville Funeral Home, 6010 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29611, on Saturday, April 5 at 4 pm.
Family members are at their respective homes.
