Martha Faye Fowler Burgess, 76, of Liberty, SC passed from this life to her Heavenly reward on Friday, May 3, 2024, after a brief illness.
Born in Liberty, SC, she was the youngest daughter of the late Gladys Christine Porter Fowler and John Roy Fowler.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five of her six siblings, and her husband of 56 years, Michael Allen Burgess.
A beautiful, stylish, energetic, and vivacious woman, Martha was the epitome of a Southern Lady. She lived the virtues of the Proverbs 31 woman every day of her life. Homemaking was a joy to her whether it was cooking a delicious meal, decorating her front porch for each season, or tending to her flowers or vegetables in her garden she poured her whole self into each moment.
She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Burgess Rubino, and Tanya Burgess Carter, her grandson, James Thomas Carter, Jr., her brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Kathy Fowler, and many nieces, nephews, friends, and, of course, her "precious boys" (her kitties), Rod Stewart, Jimmy Buffet, and Country Superstar Clint Black.
A celebration of Martha's life will be held from 2 - 4 pm, Saturday, June 8 in the fellowship hall at Calumet Baptist Church, Liberty SC.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Wounded Warriors.
