Martha Nelson Altman Bass Davis

Martha Nelson Altman Bass Davis, of Greer, loving wife of many years to the late David Cothran, has died. 

She was the daughter of the late Coley and Gem Altman of Manning, SC.

Martha was a retired educator and hospital lab technician and a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She spent her life on this earth teaching and caring for others...making a difference in countless lives. She was a wonderful friend that brought joy and laughter to those around her. Most importantly, she loved all the children in her life, expanding her family beyond that of her own home. 

She is survived by her sons Gene Wesley Bass, Jr. and James Marion Bass and wife Kim. Also, grandchildren Ryan Bass, Aaron Bass and Allyson Bass. She is also survived by brother Coley Altman and wife Daylene of Greenville, sisters Gem Altman Poteat and husband Bill of Abbeville, and Nelle Altman-Boyce and husband James of Jacksonville, NC.

Memorial services will be held on September 14, 2024, at 11 AM at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, and a visitation will be held one hour prior, at 10 AM.

Martha's family is eternally grateful to the staff at McCall Hospice House for the compassionate care given to Martha.
