Marshall Ray Arms, 84, of Greenville, SC, transitioned from his earthly body into his heavenly body on March 1, 2023. He was the son of the late James Tollie and Nora Pittman Arms and the last surviving member of his siblings.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Joan Thomas Arms and by his son, Donald “Donnie” Ray Arms (Maria) and two granddaughters, Marisa Arms and Megan Arms. He is also survived by three step children, Rick Thomas, Angie Coker (Jerry), and Tracy Nutting, and three step grandchildren, Chase Culbertson, Drew Culbertson, and Courtney Nutting as well as eight step great grandchildren who adored him as their Papa.
In addition to his parents, Marshall was predeceased by five brothers: Floyd, Cohen, Olen, and two infant brothers, Harold and Ronald, and a step granddaughter, Ashley Thomas.
A special thanks to our daughter, Tracy, and our granddaughter, Courtney, who provided 24 hour a day care for Marshall in his final weeks. Also, special thanks to our daughter, Angie, and dear friend Carolyn Duckett who provided meals and support while we cared for Marshall.
We are so thankful to Pathway Hospice for all the in-home equipment and support and a special thanks to Hospice of the Foothills for the inpatient care and comfort they provided him during his final hours.
A private service will be held and the family requests that in lieu of flowers, a memorial donation be made in honor of Marshall to hospice or a charity of your choice.
Marshall’s presence will be greatly missed by all of us who love him until we transition on to glory to be reunited with him.
