Marjorie Griffith

August 1, 1940 — May 28, 2016

Marjorie Reece Griffith, 75, of Greenville, S.C. went to be with her Lord on May 28, 2016. She was born in Union Mills, N.C. and was the daughter of Bert Gene and Ethel Carver Reece. She is survived by a daughter, Debra Renee‘ Carrillo, 3 Grand children, 8 great grandchildren and 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
She was preceded in death by her oldest brother, Donald Wiseman Reece and her parents.
Marjorie was a very talented singer, songwriter, and musician. She could play the mandolin, guitar and piano. She performed in the 50’s and 60’s with two of her sisters, Georgia Dill and Martha Hall Calhoun as a trio called “The Reece Sisters”. The sisters performed all over the Carolinas, Georgia and Tennessee and were regulars on WIS-TV’s “Carolina In The Morning”, Columbia, S.C. along with Snuffy Jenkins, Pappy Sherrill and The Hired Hands. They also, in 1963, toured with the Porter Wagoner Road Show and were guest on his television show.
She enjoyed her grandchildren very much and working on her website “touchjesussongs.net”, which she shared with everyone her original songs and photos and recordings of her years performing with her sisters as well as family photos. In her last months, she was unable to continue the work on her website but her songs and the songs by “The Reece Sisters“ can be heard on You tube.
