Marilyn Sue Moore

November 29, 1955 — May 18, 2024

Greer SC

Marilyn Sue (Dickerson) Moore died in her home in Greer, SC on Saturday, May 18th , 2024, surrounded by her family and dear friends. She was born in Huntington, WV on November 29th, 1955, the daughter of the late Rosemary (Booth) Dickerson and the late Albert Medford Dickerson.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 49 years, Gary Moore; her two sons Garrett Moore (Allison) of Athens, GA and Hunter Moore (Jeannie) of
Hillsborough, NC; her sister Claire Ginther (Mike) of Hesperia, CA; her niece Molly Ginther of Anaheim, CA; and her five grandchildren Sawyer, Maddox, Kendi, Shepherd, and Emet.

Marilyn was a patient listener with a compassionate heart, who served many in need of an attentive ear or helping hands. She greatly enjoyed the beauty of nature, particularly the ocean, and consistently showed her loved ones how to slow down to notice and wonder at God’s creation. Marilyn treasured her family, as well as special longtime friends who became like family, and spent many years enjoying one another, traveling to the
beach, and raising children together.

Marilyn adored and was adored by her grandchildren, taking a special interest in each one, and always thinking about ways to surprise and delight them. She had a unique longing for God, which she cultivated within herself and communicated to them. Her presence will be profoundly missed.

A memorial worship service will be held at Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church, Greenville SC on Saturday, May 25th at 11AM with a visitation afterward. In lieu of flowers you may make a tax deductible donation to her son’s church planting effort at unionathens.com.
