Marguerite Kathleen (Bourgeois) Whiteside, affectionately known as Marguerite, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025, in Spartanburg, SC. Born on June 26, 1952, in Montreal, Quebec, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. Her love for her family was a beacon that beautifully lit the 72 years of her life.
Marguerite's early years were filled with the vibrancy of Canadian culture, which shaped her into an interesting, selfless, and creative woman. She pursued her education with diligence, achieving a four-year college degree that would serve as the foundation for her professional endeavors. Embracing her role as an office manager, Marguerite's organizational skills and warm personality made her a cherished colleague. Her deep sense of community extended beyond the workplace as she actively engaged with the Lady Shriners and earned the distinguished honor of becoming a Zajeh Lifetime Member.
Frank Whiteside, her devoted husband of 28 years, her son Paul Bourgeois (wife Laren), and daughters Amy Jones and Amber Whiteside, survive her. They will forever treasure her legacy alongside her adoring grandchildren, Shelby, Brianna, Spencer, Haley, Jacob, Garrett, Kaylee, and Aubrie, as well as her great-grandson, Hudson. Marguerite was predeceased by her loving parents, Hilda and Philip Bourgeois, and is lovingly remembered by her brothers Greg (wife Beverly), Don (wife Kelli), Christopher, Philip (wife Lisa), and her sister Anne Aucoin (late husband Michael), who will continue to be influenced by her enduring spirit.
A talented seamstress, Marguerite's passion for sewing blossomed into the heartfelt tradition of making quilts for her grandchildren. Leisurely camping trips, thrilling Harley rides, and cherished moments spent with her grandchildren filled her life with immense joy. Her dedication to others shone through her volunteer work, especially during toy drives for the Shriner's Children's Hospital, which benefited countless lives.
Marguerite's life was a testament to her caring nature and creative soul. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered for the warmth and joy she brought to the lives of all who knew her.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday January 26, 2025 at 2 pm at Mid-City Shrine Club. 1470 Fort Prince Blvd. Wellford, SC 29385.
