On September 3, 2021, Margaret ‘Mag’ Cleveland Keheley was welcomed into eternal paradise by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A Believer, dedicated wife and mother, and loving grandmother, Mag began her 99-year journey on this Earth on November 7, 1921 in Norfolk, Virginia. Born to Grover Cleveland Adkins and Ethel Darnell Adkins, Mag lived most of her childhood and young adult years in Clarksville, Tennessee. She had four brothers, Doris, Harold, Kenneth, and Lt. Col. Frank Adkins; and one sister, Barbara Matthews, who all preceded her in death.
After graduating from Clarksville High School, she attended Austin Peay State University and was a proud resident of Tennessee until she moved to Atlanta, Georgia. There, she worked as a telegraph operator and met her future husband, Harry Lewis ‘Lew’ Keheley. Married on November 24, 1949, Mag and Lew would have celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary this year. Throughout their marriage, they resided in Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Simpsonville, SC; and then, Hendersonville, NC, before enjoying their last home in Greenville, SC. Just four months prior to Mag’s last days, Lew peacefully passed away to be with The Lord on April 19th.
Mag is survived by her three daughters, Shelley Baluch, Paula Keheley, and Emily Keheley. Her memory is also carried on in the lives of her 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Even though every relationship Mag shared with her family members, relatives, and many friends was unique, there was a common tie that bound each one to another. Mag built relationships on the foundation of her love for Christ. Her unceasing desire to know The Lord and her deep adoration for His son Jesus is the seed she planted in everyone who knew her. This is her legacy, firmly rooted to bless generations to come.
