Born on July 22, 1946, in Abbeville, SC, Lyn's life was a testament to her enduring passion for education, her entrepreneurial spirit, and her unwavering love for her family and friends.

Lyn's academic journey was marked by her pursuit of excellence, culminating in a Master's degree in education. Her dedication to teaching spanned from kindergarten to graduate students, a clear reflection of her belief in the transformative power of learning. Lyn's commitment to education extended beyond the classroom, as she became a successful business owner, operating a retail business with a specialty in lingerie boutiques. Her professional endeavors were characterized by the same intelligence and attention to detail that she brought to her teaching.

A master gardener, Lyn found solace and joy in the tranquility of her garden. Her love for nurturing growth extended to her students, her plants, and the animals she adored. Lyn's home was a sanctuary for many beloved cats and dogs throughout her life, each of whom she cherished deeply.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Johnna Huffman Armstrong; her cherished grandchildren, Audrey Armstrong McMakin and Joseph Gates Armstrong; her stepchildren, Pamela Watson, James E. Self, and Debbie Self; and her brother, S. Wayne Hall. Each of them will hold onto the memories of Lyn's loving nature, her interesting conversations, and her intelligent insights.

Those who knew Lyn would describe her as a woman of great character—loving, interesting, and intelligent. She had an uncanny ability to make complex ideas accessible to all and inspired countless individuals to pursue their passions with vigor and determination.
