Luther J. Purvines, 89 of Woodside, passed away Wednesday, October 12 at the Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson. He is of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Purvines is an Army Veteran, having served 4 years during World War II. He worked many jobs in Textiles including Franklin Dye & Yarn as a machine operator, and Walmart during his retirement.
His grandchildren will always cherish the many trips camping, boating and fishing at Lake Hartwell with "Papa".
He is survived by a daughter, Dolly Grice of Woodside, a son-in-law Wayne Moore, a daughter- in-aw Karen Purvines, 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Purvines was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Purvines, his daughter Lorraine Moore and his son Thomas "Tommy" Purvines.
