Luther "Leon" Peninger

Dr. Luther Leon Peninger went to be with the Lord on Oct 22, 2013. He was born July 15, 1932 to Doy and Nancy May Peninger in Tulsa, OK. Leon moved to Greenville, SC to attend Bob Jones University He has earned 2 Bachelor degrees and 2 master degrees, as well as, a honorary Doctorate. Leon taught Science at Northwood Middle School in Taylors, SC for 30 years. He was an accomplished pianist and antiques collector. He is remembered as a godly husband/father/brother with a heart for the mission field. He has pastored and held evangelism meetings around the world including 18 trips to India. He was a board member at Puerto Rico Baptist College. Leon was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dale. He is survived by his wife Glenda, son Daniel (Katherine), daughter Nancy Lee (Ricardo William) his sisters Ola May Crew and Nancy Alice Armstrong.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Morningside Baptist Church marked for Puerto Rico Baptist College or Vision 20/20 Asia. Visitation will be in the chapel of Morningside Baptist Church Saturday Oct 26, 2013 from 12pm-1pm and funeral  service at 1 pm. The church address is  1115 Pelham Rd, Greenville, SC 29615. There will be a graveside service immediately following the funeral at Graceland Cemetery East.
