Lorna V. Phipps

December 10, 1945 — December 23, 2021

Lorna migrated to the U.S. Virgin Islands at the age of 9 with her sisters - Heather Edwards(Samuel) Florence Philip along with her mother Octavia Millicent Bryant. She gave birth to 3 beautiful girls Abigail, Judy and Antoinette on these beautiful islands. Lorna married Gilbert Phipps and it was there she raised her daughters and shared life with her mother and sisters. Lorna was a devoted and loving mother, trusted sister and faithful wife. Despite her humble start...Lorna was a dedicated hard worker with ambition. Lorna worked in retail fragrances and Clarins skincare in the Virgin Islands and was very successful at her trade. Family was of paramount importance to her. She consistently encouraged and motivated her daughters to shoot for the stars, pursue a great education, love God and everything else will follow. Over the years, life happened....her eldest departed the islands for college, her middle child finished high school on the mainland with her aunt in Texas. Antoinette the youngest remained until she departed to attend college on the mainland. She was Lorna's present and consistent companion while the two eldest were away. Antoinette saw Lorna during her highs and lows with life's turbulant winds. It was upon Antoinette's completion of college Lorna set her sights on leaving her troubles in the Caribbean and migrating to the United States.
Lorna migrated to Seattle, WA sight unseen because her two daughters Judy and Antoinette were there. The tenacity which this woman contained...placed her in a retail job for a short period of time and then she went back to school and obtained her Associates Degree in Medical Administration. She had a fantastic career in the Medical Field as scheduler from where she retired. Later, Abigail joined the 3 in Seattle, WA and Lorna's heart was full again being with all her adult children. There were many fun and memorable adventures and experiences while in the Pacific Northwest as a family. It was during this phase of life that Lorna became a born again Christian after being a Moravian then Catholic. Lorna enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading the Word of God, being in the presence of God and worshipping God.
Survivors include : her 3 daughters(Abigail Edwards, Judy Phipps, Antoinette Phipps), and her sister Heather Samuel. She was predeceased by her parents were Octavia M. Bryant and David Edwards.
