Lonnie Mote, a man whose laughter and love knew no bounds, passed away on his 59th birthday. August 11, 2024, in his hometown of Greenville, South Carolina. Born on August 11, 1965, also in Greenville, Lonnie's life was a testament to the joy and strength found in family, faith, and the simple pleasures of life.
A devoted father, Lonnie's pride and joy were his children, Hayley and Hunter Mote, whom he raised with a boundless love and a protective spirit. He was a cherished brother to Mandi Brown and Jeri Pressley, a beloved son to Brenda Parnell and the late Jerry Mote, a stepson to Jerry Childers, and the first grandchild of the late Aurelia and James Parnell. Lonnie's legacy continues through his adored grandchildren, Ayden and Kolton, who will carry forward his humor and kindness. His loving relationship with his girlfriend, Misty Badilla, added a beautiful chapter to his life's story. Lonnie also held a special place in the hearts of his nieces, Cristi, Graci, and Beverli, and his nephew, EJ.
An ardent fan of Clemson football, Miami Dolphins, and Braves baseball, Lonnie's enthusiasm for his teams was infectious, and game days were always a highlight. Lonnie also loved watching NASCAR. More than anything, Lonnie was all about his family. He was the steadfast protector, the one who brought everyone together, and the source of endless funny stories that will be told and retold, keeping his spirit alive.
Those who knew Lonnie will remember him as a faith-filled man who lived his beliefs through his actions. His loving nature was evident in every interaction, and his ability to find humor in any situation made him a joy to be around. Lonnie's life was a reflection of the values he held dear: love, family, and faith.
As we bid farewell to Lonnie Mote, we celebrate a life lived with laughter, love, and a deep commitment to those he held dear. His memory will continue to inspire and comfort all who were fortunate enough to know him. Lonnie's presence will be profoundly missed, yet his spirit will remain a guiding light for his family and friends.
