Lois E. Smith, 72, died in Greenville, South Carolina, on October 20, 2022. She and a twin brother were born in Rockford, Illinois, on April 1, 1950, to the late Robert H. and Esther Robinson Smith. Lois graduated from Harlem High School, Machesney Park, Illinois, in 1968, and from Bob Jones University in 1984. She retired as a bookkeeper for the Bi-Lo supermarket chain after more than 25 years of service. She was a great fancier of cats and always had one or more as pets. In Greenville, Lois attended both Faith Free Presbyterian Church and Trinity Bible Church; and when she was physically unable to attend either, she often watched the services of both on her phone. Lois was preceded in death by a brother, Burton Smith, and by sisters Rachel Matzko and Esther Arletta Locascio. She is survived by sisters Margaret McMillan and Althea Wright and by her twin brother, William Smith. When asked to express her faith a few days before her passing, she quoted Psalm 4: 8, “I will both lay me down in peace and sleep, for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.”
