Lester Daniel Kidd II

Lester Daniel Kidd, II, age 75, of Greer, SC, passed away at his home on Thursday, September 8, 2016. Dan was born in Takoma Park, MD, on 24 January 1941 ("during the Roosevelt administration") but spent his childhood in Vienna, VA. He was a member of the Vienna Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He graduated from high school and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1959, serving as a Military Policeman in Germany, Korea, and bases across the United States. Dan also went through Airborne Jump School in Ft Bragg, NC, where he earned his Jump Wings.
After leaving the military in 1965, Dan went to work for Sears Roebuck & Co. as a Service Technician, retiring after 30 years of service. Dan married the love of his life, Deborah Dove, on November 19, 1966. Their son, L. Daniel Kidd, III, was born the following year.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lester Daniel Kidd, Sr., and Lillian Lucille Ward Kidd and is survived by his wife and son, his brother David Eugene Kidd of Bealeton, VA, and his sisters Ruth Carole Clements of Greensboro, NC, and Rena Virginia Kidd of Bealeton, VA.
He was an enthusiastic follower of national and world events and enjoyed woodcarving, coin collecting and listening to classical music.
The funeral service will be held at St. George the Martyr Anglican Church, 427 Batesville Rd., Simpsonville, SC, officiated by the Rev. Paul A. Rivard. Interment will be in the Memorial Garden of the church, followed by family and friends gathering in the Parish Hall.
