Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and friend, was born August 19,1937, in Wilkes County, GA, to the late Waymon & Nora Harbin. She grew up in Anderson, SC, attending, then, Bethany Bible Chapel, now Concord Community Church. She worked with the children teaching Sunday school and Bible clubs. She taught Sunday school and Bible clubs, through Weston Ave. Gospel Chapel (Niagara Falls, NY), Amhert Bible Chapel (Amherst, NY) and Concord Community Chapel, in Anderson, Sc. She loved children, and telling them about Jesus, she taught bible clubs through an Organization called CEF, Child Evangelization Fellowship.
She was known as Jo or Aunt Jo to most of the people that knew her and was best known for always having a cookie jar full of cookies, to the delight of all the children that came through the house.
She passed away, peacefully into the arms of her Lord on February 22, 2019 and is reunited with her husband, Melvin Dixon. She is also predeceased by her six brothers; Harold, John Edwin, Lewis, William Reese, Alan, and Henry Harbin, and one grandson; Ethan Dixon.
She is survived by her two sisters; Mary Hilton and Lucille Bolt, two children; Kevin (Missy) Dixon of Niagara Falls, NY and Bonta' (Chris) Ahr of Greenville, SC, nine grand children; Chris, Ryan, Alan, D.J., Rachel, Bekah, Hope, Ben, and Anna.
A celebration of Jo's life is to be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm -2:30 pm, memorial service beginning at 2:30 pm in the chapel at Westville Funerals, 6010 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29611.
