Larry Steve Dalton, Jr. passed away unexpectedly on May 15, 2024, in Greenville, SC, at the age of 51. Born on June 13, 1972, in Fort Dix, NJ, Larry's life was one of love, compassion, and service for others.


Larry's journey was marked by a deep commitment to his family, who were the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his loving daughters, Laren Dalton and Kayleigh Odell, along with her husband Joshua, and Larry's son, Noah Dalton. Larry's joy was multiplied by his grandsons, Logan Dalton Straub, Rhett Odell, and Wayne Odell, who brought him immeasurable happiness. He was a cherished brother to Jennifer Dalton Adams and Timothy Dalton, and a beloved uncle to several nieces and nephews. His family also included his father-in-law Bob McElyea, sister-in-law Joy McElyea Hill and her husband Lamar, sister-in-law Dana Hammontree, and brother-in-law Rob McElyea with his wife Karen. Larry was preceded in death by his mother Judith Dalton, his father Larry Steve Dalton, Sr., his wife Karen McElyea Dalton, his mother-in-law Billie McElyea, and his brother-in-law Michael Hammontree.


In honoring Larry's life, we reflect on the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children... to leave the world a bit better... to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Larry indeed succeeded and his light will continue to shine in the lives he touched.
