Laine B. Cox, of Walnut Grove Lane passed away, Saturday, April 29, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Laine was born in March 4, 1943 in West Virginia to the late Charlie and Virgie Walker Cox, he was the youngest of the Cox children. He was the husband of the late Rebecca Elaine Severt Cox and the late Gladys Cox. In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Nelson, Bill, and David Cox and his sisters; Ethal Cox O’Brian, Evelyn Cox Shaw and Joann Cox Beam.
Laine was retired from Schneider Trucking Company as an over the road driver and prior to that he retired from Hart Graphics, Inc. in Simpsonville, SC as a Second Pressman where he worked for many years. He attended Stone Station Baptist Church in Roebuck. He was an avid fan of Old Westerns and Louis Lamoure books. He dearly loved his family and cherished every moment they had together, even if they didn’t see eye to eye always. Everyone that knew him enjoyed his quirky sense of humor and loved to listen to his stories of growing up in the mountains of West Virginia.
He is survived by his sons: Scott Cox and wife Laurie of the home, Russell Cox of Spartanburg, SC, his daughters: Karen Cox Mathis and husband Brian of Winston-Salem, NC, Tina Cox McCall and husband Tim of Wellford, SC, his grandchildren: Matthew McCall and wife Amelia, Benjamin McCall, Samuel McCall and wife Allyssa, Joseph McCall and wife Hannah, Abigail McCall, Olivia McCall, Alex Mathis, Noah Mathis and Jonah Mathis, Michelle Cox, Nicholas Cox, Hillary Putman and husband Tyler, Kayla Morgan and Katie Morgan, great-grandchildren: Emma Cox, Elaina McCall, Clark McCall, Evelyn McCall, Wyatt McCall, Archer McCall, Titus McCall, Darcy Putman and Mason Putman, and his sisters: Betty Cox Hass and Jean Cox West and husband Jack.
The family is receiving friends at the home, 119 Walnut Grove Lane, Roebuck, SC. A Memorial service will be held to honor Laine’s memory at 2:00 PM, May 27, 2017, at Stone Station Baptist Church, 121 Walnut Grove Lane, Roebuck, SC, with Rev. Jackie Bridwell officiating.
