GREENVILLE - June Loy White died peace- fully October 2, 2018 at McCall Hospice House surrounded by her fam- ily. She was born July 9, 1927 in Hendersonville, NC, to Bess and John Loy. She attended Furman College where she met Cooper White, the love of her life. They married in 1947 and together had five children and a life full of love.
June was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who will always be remembered for her radiant smile. Her love for her family was a beautiful example to all who knew her, and her greatest joy was the closeness and love among her children and their families.
June, an avid reader and crossworder, enjoyed going to the movies and volunteered for many years at Meals On Wheels. She loved her church, Westminster Presbyterian, and received an Honorary Life Membership by the Presbyterian Women of Westminster in appreciation for her many years of service.
During her travels across the world with Cooper, she amassed an impressive collection of nativities, which she joyfully displayed for church groups and friends. There was no place that made her as happy as Pawleys Island. Her family shares that love of Pawleys, and she was able to join them there this past July. That tradition will continue, but her presence will be missed forever.
She is predeceased by her husband Cooper White, and her son Johnny White. She is survived by her children Sharon White Byrd (Mitchell), Susie White Wald (Danny), Sally White Stewart (Tom), Mike White (Martha), 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many friends at Westminster Retirement Center.
A celebration of June’s life will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, October 5, at the home of Sharon and Mitchell Byrd, 114 Amber Drive, Greenville, SC 29607.
As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to Meals On Wheels, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC, 29605 or McCall Hospice House, 1836 Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC, 29680.
