Judy Gentile, 79, of Greenville, SC went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Betty Jo and Harold Hutchinson of Flint, MI.
Judy’s life was characterized by her ongoing acts of kindness and service to others, her jovial demeanor, her hospitable smile, and her exuberant love for Jesus Christ. She enjoyed reading, crafts, good-humored jokes and pranks, the beauty of nature, music, going to garage sales, gardening, and studying the bible.
Before retiring, she was a respected, compassionate nurse, often advocating for her patients’ well-being and diffusing difficult situations with wisdom and wit.
She was a supportive, loving mother and mother-in-law, treating her children’s spouses as if they were her own flesh and blood. And to her two grandchildren, she was a creative, playful “Grammy”, often engaging them in many a fun adventure, and speaking truth and praise to them every chance she could.
Judy was a phenomenal cook and served both family and friends by regularly preparing many of her treasured heirloom recipes, including her “famous” cakes, which she also decorated on special occasions.
She was also a dedicated volunteer at church, teaching ESL, leading bible study groups, and joyfully assisting anywhere she was needed. With her servant’s heart, she was a devoted, sincere, reliable friend to many.
Even during the past ten years following a life-altering stroke, she still strived to love and serve family, friends, and strangers alike, making them smile or laugh. Anyone who talked to her during these challenging years surely would have heard her light-hearted rhymes, songs, quips, and jokes that she often shared, or perhaps a few hymns or bible verses. Her spunk and lovingkindness will be dearly missed.
Judy is survived by her two children, Tony Gentile (Yvonne) and Heather Karamol (Scott), two grandchildren, Jenna and Emily, a sister-in-law, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Thomas Hutchinson (Kathy).
At her request, a private cremation and family memorial will be held. If you wish to comment with a prayer, condolence, or special memory, it would be gratefully appreciated in lieu of flowers and would be an absolute honor to know how you knew her and how she touched your life.
