Joy was born on the 19th of October in 1950 in Pensacola, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Patricia Hendricks. Gene was a preacher and a church planter. His ministry was very important in Joy's life. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Cheryl Hendricks Loy. She is survived by three siblings and their spouses: Lynn Hendricks Gleiser (Morris), Tim Hendricks (Teresia), and Gina Hendricks Baker (David). She has 11 nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Haywood High School in Brownsville, TN and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Practical Christian Training from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC.
Joy was a student and a teacher. She studied and knew God's Word and taught it to everyone who would listen. She loved children and wanted them to know her Savior. She would sing and play and teach and sing and play, etc., until the little knew the stories of the Bible. She taught in Christian schools in Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, and Texas.
Joy was a caregiver. She would care for family to the end of her strength and constantly look for ways to ease the burden of others. She took care of her mom and dad until they graduated to heaven.
She was a missionary. She helped Time and Teresia in Mexico for a year and went with them to El Salvador and served playing piano, singing, and participating with the women for a missions trip.
We celebrate Joy and her LORD. That is her desire. We will attempt to honor her in her service for Christ.
