Josephine McKune

Josephine "Josie" McKune, a beacon of love and creativity, passed away on March 4, 2025, in South Carolina. Born on December 27, 1942, in Virginia, Josie's life was a tapestry of vibrant experiences and enduring relationships. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and selflessness. Josie was happily married to Harrold "Mac" McKune, who predeceased her. 

Josie's journey began as the heart of a large and loving family. She was a guiding light to her children, Michelle Kent, Beverly Ann, and Norman Messier, who will forever hold her memory dear. Her brothers, Fredrick Opatka Jr., Henry Opatka, John Opatka, and Phillip Opatka, along with her sisters, Patricia Opatka-Plante, Janice Rybicki, Carol Chludenski, and Linda LeGere, will miss her deeply. Josie's joy was multiplied through her grandchildren, Dale Knaack, Vannessa Knaack, Christina Knaack, and Robin Dawson, as well as her nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored.

Professionally, Josie excelled as a business office manager, where her organizational skills and attention to detail were unparalleled. However, it was her role as a mother and grandmother where she truly shone, earning her the title of "the best" from all who were blessed to be part of her family. Josie's nurturing spirit was the cornerstone of her home, and her guidance was the compass by which her family navigated life's challenges.

Josie's artistic talents were evident in her love for painting, crafting, stained glass making, and sewing. Her hands were rarely still, as she poured her soul into creating beautiful works that reflected her inner light. Each piece she crafted was a testament to her creative spirit and her desire to bring beauty into the world.
