Joseph L. “Red” Davenport, 70, of Greenville, SC passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer, on Saturday, November, 6th, 2021 at The McCall House in Simpsonville, SC. He was born on Wednesday, June 20th, 1951, in Greenwood, SC to his parents, the late Wilton Levis and Idell Owings Davenport.
He was predeceased by the “Love of his Life” Sylvia Mae Rabb Davenport 17 years ago. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by many, above all his daughter, Wanda Leo; his best friend and cousin Sheila Willard; his grandchildren, Roy Leo, Jr. of Travelers Rest, SC and Robin Leo of Greenville, SC; and his two great granddaughters, Abby Leo and Maddie Leo of Greenville, SC; his older brother, Wilton L. Davenport , Jr. (Mary Jo), and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He retired from Metromont after over 20 years of service, he enjoyed restoring old cars and time spending in his garden. But of all his true love was his family and the his friends.
Along with his parents and his wife he was also predeceased by his brother, Robert Davenport.
His visitation will be held Thursday, November 11th from 4-6pm at the Cremation Society of SC - Westville Funerals in Greenville, SC.
A Graveside Service is scheduled for Friday, November 12th, 2021 at 1pm at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
