Johnny King

June 22, 1959 — April 5, 2025

Greenville, SC

Johnny King, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on April 5, 2025, in his hometown of Greenville, SC, at the age of 65. Born on June 22, 1959, in the same close-knit community, Johnny's life was a testament to his loving, funny, and generous spirit.

Johnny is survived by his devoted wife of many years, Peggy King, and their loving blended family: Kimberly Benton (married to Brian Sr.), Courtney Littlefield (married to Seth), Ashley Norris, Angel Norris, and Adam Norris (married to Candice). He was a proud grandfather to Brian Benton Jr., Wrenley Littlefield, Britni, Krista, Bella, Kaitlyne, Haleigh, Saphira, and great-grandfather to Winstyn and Ellie. He also leaves behind his brother, Charles King, and brother-in-law, Dennis Edwards Sr., as well as his cherished nephews, Dennis Jr. and Andy. Johnny was predeceased by his father, Thomas King, his mother, Majorie King, his brother, Ricky King, his sister, Toni Edwards, and his niece, Lisa King.

Johnny's professional life was marked by dedication and hard work. He spent over four decades in the textile field, contributing his skills and labor to JPS Stevens. Despite a long battle with health issues, Johnny's resilience and commitment never wavered, and he remained a respected figure among his colleagues and within the industry.

Beyond his work, Johnny's passions were deeply rooted in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fan of WWE wrestling, with Ric Flair as his favorite wrestler, and he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved SC Gamecocks and the SF 49ers. Johnny also found joy in watching old classic TV shows, a pastime that offered him both comfort and nostalgia.

However, it was Johnny's love for his family and friends that truly defined him. He was the heart of every gathering, known for his quick wit and the laughter that followed his jokes. His generosity knew no bounds, and he was always the first to offer help to anyone in need. Johnny's presence was a source of stability and love, and his absence will leave an irreplaceable void in the lives of those who knew him.

As we say goodbye to Johnny King, we celebrate a life lived with warmth and kindness. His legacy will live on through the cherished memories he created with each person he touched. Johnny's laughter, his unwavering support, and his boundless love will continue to inspire us all.
