John Thamer Williams

John Thamer Williams, Sr. of Greenville passed away on May 10, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital, surrounded by his wife Helen Manley Williams and loved ones.

Born in Rockingham County, NC, he was the son of the late John Oscar and Mary Cassie Moore Williams.  John was a member of Sandy Springs Baptist Church.  John was retired from Diamond Hill Plywood Co. with 31 years of service and was working with Enterprise Car Rentals.  He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and playing golf.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife are his son, John Thamer Williams, Jr.; step sons, Allen Carroll (Sharon) and "special" granddaughter Courtney, Richard Carroll (Tanya), Alex and Clay.  He had 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; one sister, M. Rebecca Boyd; and one brother, David S. Williams.  John was predeceased by his parents, daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Williams Frazier and Brian Frazier; sisters, Iva Isley, Carleen Easter and Maxine Williams.

Services will be held on Sat., May 16 Sandy Springs Baptist Church.  Visitation will be held from 1 - 2 PM, with the memorial service to follow at 2 PM.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Lions Club, Taylors; or Sandy Springs Baptist Church, 371 Sandy Springs Road.
