John Garth Knight, known affectionately as Garth to his friends and family, passed away peacefully in his hometown of Greenville, SC, on July 1, 2024, at the age of 59. Born on March 17, 1965, in the same compassionate city, Garth's life was one marked by warmth, dedication, and a deep passion for the simple joys in life.
Garth was the beloved stepson of Michael Lynn Knight and his wife Charlene, of Fountain Inn. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Travis Knight. Garth's loving presence will be profoundly missed by his devoted girlfriend, Betty Ford of Travelers Rest, who stood by him with unwavering support and shared in his love for life's many adventures.
Garth chose a path that would enable him to work outdoors, embracing the beauty of nature that he so loved. He worked diligently for Donny Williams and Steve Ford as a landscaper, pouring his passion into every project he touched. Garth also spent time serving the community at the KFC on Wade Hampton Blvd, where his friendly demeanor and loving nature were a beacon of light to both customers and colleagues alike.
Garth's interests were a reflection of his appreciation for life's simple pleasures. He found joy in the camaraderie and excitement of playing bingo on White Horse Road. His love for short day trips was evident as he frequently ventured to the mountains and the beach, reveling in the serenity and majesty of the natural world. An animal lover at heart, Garth had a special fondness for cats, whose companionship brought him immeasurable comfort and happiness.
Those who knew Garth would describe him as a loving, friendly, and passionate individual. He approached life with a kind heart and an open mind, always ready to lend a listening ear or a helping hand. His ability to connect with others and his unwavering friendliness left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
