John Edwardsen Kniffin

December 23, 1944 — January 4, 2024

John Edwardsen Kniffin passed away on January 4, 2024, at the age of 79 in
Simpsonville, South Carolina. He was born on December 23, 1944, in Youngstown,
Ohio.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter G. Kniffin Jr. and Margaret R. Kniffin,
brother Ronald Kniffin, sister Margaret (Peggy) Smith, and aunt Hellen Daniels.
John is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Kniffin and Kristine Moore. Grandchildren,
Bradden and Lydia Moore and brothers, Walter G. Kniffin III, Timothy D. Kniffin, and
Robert Kniffin (Elaine).

John had a passion for his faith, and life, and was an accomplished musician. His hobbies
included sailing, scuba diving, and traveling. He enjoyed spending time with his
daughters, grandchildren, friends, and family. John had a spark about him, his energy
and wit made it easy to find a friend in him.

John attended Roosevelt High School in Dayton, OH through late 1960 and attended
Wayne High School in Huber Heights, OH in 1963, having only to complete one final
college prep class his entire school year, and graduating with the Wayne class of 1963.
He got his associate degree in business at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, OH
and later graduated from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio with a bachelor’s
degree in business.

In 1965, John joined the Ohio Army National Guard and by 1966, started his career at
the Inland Division of General Motors in Vandalia, OH. Over his six-year enlistment,
John progressed through the ranks of the National Guard, reaching the rank of
Technical Sergeant and position of battle tank commander. John separated from the
National Guard active reserve in 1974 and continued with his successful career until
finally retiring from General Motors.

John’s final resting place will be aside his parents, brother, sister, and aunt in The
Fletcher Cemetery in Fletcher, Ohio date and time TBD. He will be incredibly missed by
all who knew and loved him.
