John A Kennedy Sr.

April 7, 1957 — October 3, 2023

We are sad to share the unexpected passing of John A Kennedy, Sr., 66 years old. Born in Barcelona, Spain, he embarked on his final journey from Greenville, SC on October 3, 2023.

John was the beloved patriarch of a large and loving extended family. He was the proud father of Dawn Kennedy-Owens and John A. Kennedy, Jr., father-in-law to Darlene Kennedy-Owens and Brandy C. Kennedy. His grandsons, Ethan Rolin Kennedy, Connor Mason Kennedy, and Sean William Kennedy, were the apples of his eye. He was predeceased by his cherished wife, Nancy Kennedy, and his son, Sean W. Kennedy.

He was the brother of George Kennedy, Michelle Tully, and the late Billy Kennedy, and brother-in-law to Rose Kennedy and Ed Tully. His parents, Bill and Ann Kennedy, welcomed him into this world and now, they welcome him into the next.

John was a US Air Force veteran who served his country with honor and dignity for 27 years. His thirst for knowledge was insatiable, and we’re so grateful for the wisdom he shared throughout his life. His dedication to his family and community was a testament to his character, and his commitment to service was unwavering.

John was a quiet natured, but talkative man of many passions. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as spending time with his grandsons and family, both blood and extended. His fur-baby Star held a special place in his heart, and he enjoyed spending time and caring for his fur-grand babies as well. His fascination with planes, mechanics, and note-pads was well-known. He was a connoisseur of great music and wine, and on occasion, his peace pipe. He was a lifelong advocate for human rights and passed that love and acceptance on to anyone he met. His ability to pick the perfect card for any occasion was legendary, and he always put a great deal of thought into selecting them and writing the perfect funny message. His organizational skills were unparalleled, and his meticulous nature was a trait admired by all who knew him.

John was a man who lived his life with purpose and passion. He was a beacon of hope and a pillar of strength for his family and friends. His selfless love and analytical mind were his guiding principles, and he lived his life with a grace and dignity that was truly inspiring. He was a man who believed in the power of love and the importance of family, and he dedicated his life to serving others.

In the words of the Bard himself, "All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances." While John has made his exit, his memory will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who knew him. His life was a testament to the power of love, the importance of family, and the value of community. He will be dearly missed, but his spirit will live on in the lives of those he touched.

Farewell, daddy. May your journey into the next life be as fulfilling and meaningful as the life you lived here on earth. Your memory will forever be in our hearts and minds. Thank you for everything you have and will continue to teach us.
