John "Johnny" Henry Newsome Jr

John Henry Newsome Jr., affectionately known as Johnny to his friends and family, passed away on September 28, 2024, in Greenville, SC. Born on October 24, 1943, in Gibson, GA, Johnny was a man whose life was marked by kindness, humor, and selflessness, touching the lives of many with his warm spirit and generous nature.

Johnny grew up in the loving home of his late parents, John Henry Newsome Sr. and Dorothy Louise Peebles. Johnny's love for car shows and NASCAR was only matched by his dedication to helping fellow veterans and his enthusiasm for wrestling and soap operas, which brought him much joy and excitement.

He was a beacon of light in his family, a source of endless jokes, and the kind of person who would go out of his way to lend a helping hand. Johnny's legacy is carried on by his devoted daughters, Debra Wells and Michelle Newsome, and his cherished grandchildren, Marie Wells, Keith Wells, Dakoda Newsome, and Colton Barnett. His great-grandchildren, Tyler Barnett, Jayden Barnett, and Leanna Wells, as well as his great-great-grandson, Ashton Boyd, will grow up hearing tales of Johnny's kindness and laughter. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Donnie Newsome, and his parents.
