John Samuel Henson, 66. of Greenville, SC, died Friday, December 2, 2016, after a brief stay at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville.
John was born December 19, 1949, in Rutherford County, NC. He has been a resident of Greenville, SC, for more than 40 years.
He retired as a machinist at Saint-Gobain Abrasives in Travelers Rest, SC, where he had worked for 27 years. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Gail, of the home. He is also survived by three brothers, Robert P. Henson and wife Evelyn, Gaffney, SC, Jerry K. Henson and wife Arvenia, Rutherfordton, NC, and J. Doyle Henson and wife Eileen, Union Mills, NC. Although John had no biological children, he is also survived by 3 Honorary daughters and 4 Honorary grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Samuel Henson and Fannie Belle Green Henson as well as 5 siblings.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Truth Missionary Baptist Church, 200 Saluda Dam Rd., Greenville, SC 29611, where he was active on the Baptism and Communion Committee for more than 33 years.
Westville Funerals and Cremations on White Horse Road, Greenville, SC is handling the arrangements. Flowers for the Memorial Service may be sent to Truth Missionary Baptist Church.
