John Wilson Burch, 97, of Belton, SC, passed away October 17, 2018 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC.
Born in Magee, MS, he served in the US Army from 1940-1945, Army Reserves until 1953, American Red Cross, American Heart Association, and was currently LT Colonel in the MS State Guard.
He was a member of Eureka Baptist Church, a special friend to Helen Arflin for 13 years, friends with neighbors, and Sunday School members, giving them vegetables from his garden, even this year “and” always with his witty humor. He grew and sold vegetable and flower plants as a pastime.
He is survived by 5 children of 6, 9 grandchildren of 10, 20 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
A private military gravesite burial will be held in Hattiesburg, MS at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eureka Baptist Church, 1600 Highway 29, Anderson, SC 29624.
