John “Steve” Bond, 71, of Greenville, SC, passed away peacefully at home, May 29, 2020. Raised in Crossville, TN, he was the son of Christine Tabor Bond and the late Robert R. Bond.
Survivors include his wife of the home Dianne Bond, his mother Christine Bond, his brother Randy (Glenda) Bond, and his sister Anita (Lynn) Smith, of Crossville, TN.
He was the father of three children, John (Rachel) S. Bond II of Chattanooga, TN; Jennifer (Mark) Bever of Charlotte, NC; and Jeremy Bond of Charlotte, NC. He was also the stepfather of Joseph (Heather), James (Jamie), Willy (Hannah), and Margie Stoppelbein.
Additionally, Steve was blessed with one grandson Jax Rader Bond, and sixteen step-grandchildren, Anna Stoppelbein; Luke, Jack, Katie, Isaac, Caleb, Caroline, Josiah, Ryan Stoppelbein; Lexi, Maddie, Henry, Charlie, CeCe, and Paxton Stoppelbein; and Stephen Stoppelbein.
After graduating from the University of Tennessee, Steve was employed for over 35 years with the South Carolina Department of Education, as a Special Education Teacher. His interests included sports, coaching, travel, reading, and history.
He also proudly served his country as a US Army Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division, 1968-1970.
Steve knew the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour and actively practiced his Baptist faith.
