Jesse Milton (Milt) Allen of Greer, South Carolina entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. Bravely, he fought an unimaginable battle following complications from surgery. He was born on August 24, 1941, in Wilmington, North Carolina to Postell Allen, Sr. and Ann Quarles Allen. Milt grew up in Greenville, South Carolina with three siblings who predeceased him in death.
He was highly active throughout his entire life from baseball to playing football during his time at Furman University He was also passionate about experiencing God’s creation outdoors, spending much of his life, skiing, hiking, traveling, biking, and camping. He loved the mountains and had a love and passion for adventure. He learned to fly and enjoyed flying small planes which brought him much joy. He was a die-hard Furman fan who loved attending football and basketball games.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol, five children from a previous marriage and their spouses, David (Kara) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Scott (Tammy) of Saluda, N.C., Craig (Ashley), of Kings Mountain, N.C., Michelle (Terry) of Simpsonville, S.C.. Stephen (Rob) of Atlanta, Georgia as well as a proud grandparent to six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren He also had three stepdaughters and ten step-grandchildren as
well as numerous cousins and friends. He truly loved his family, God, and his church family.
Milt had an enormous heart, strength, independence, sensitivity, compassion, and wit. He was a quiet person, but also witty and fun-loving. He will be remembered for his beautiful smile that he shared with everyone. His kind and thoughtful nature will be remembered by all the lives he touched. He was a strong fighter but is now free from pain and is living on the peaceful shores of heaven. He will always be loved and missed until we meet again.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of Milt’s life which will be held at the Student Center at Fairview Baptist Church, 1300 Locust Hill Road, Greer, South Carolina, at 2 P.M. on Saturday, June 1, 2024. Memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
