Jerry Solon Letson
December 8, 1945 — July 24, 2016
Mr. Jerry Solon Letson, of Simpsonville, SC, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at the age of 70.
Jerry was born to parents Leamon & Ellen Letson on December 8, 1945 in Decatur, Alabama. He grew up the youngest of three and attended Kalamazoo Central High School in Kalamazoo, MI.
In 1964, Jerry enlisted in the Navy and served on the USS Hancock as a boiler operator for four years.
In 1969, he married his sweetheart Alane (Walley). Jerry was a great family man and loving father. The couple had two children and ran service stations/convenience stores together. His family and friends will always remember him as a fun loving, story telling, jovial man.
Jerry is survived by his wife Alane (Walley) Letson, daughter Kathy Berg (husband David), his son Michael Letson (wife Christi), his sister Betty Rowan and his two grandchildren Mikayla & Joshua Berg. He is preceded in death by his parents Leamon & Ellen, as well as, his brother Ussery “Ernie” Letson.
Cremation is taking place this week. Friends and family are invited to express written and/or photographic fond memories of time spent with Jerry via e-mail to k.berg@ymail.com for a scrap book we are compiling in his memory.
