Jerry J. Hinz

Jerry J. Hinz, 77, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, with is loving family by his side at Prisma Hospital in Greenville, SC. Born in Madison, WI to Ruth O'Reilly Balch Hinz (deceased). Graduate of Annandale HS in VA and Colorado State University. Army officer at the age of 19. Police officer in Colorado and Wyoming. Civil Engineer with FHWA and USFS. Lived in 23 states and counting. Loved his cars and racing motorcycles. Self-taught accomplished and passionate Bluegrass banjo player and singer. Green Bay Packer backer. Strong proponent of pickleball where he was friendly, fierce and fluorescent player. Enjoyed travelling and cruising to warm climes. Never afraid to jump into the political conversation. Warm lap to Smokey and Tabitha. Counselor and good friend to many, encouraging always to be your best.

He is survived by his wife Diane (nee Jarus), siblings Jane, Sally and Tony. Dearest, loving cousin and uncle to many, especially Rene, Diane and Courtney Jarus.
