He was born to Gladys and Audrey Hairgrove and a sibling to Wylie, Kirby, and Kathy. He married his college sweetheart Cheryl (Wheeler). Together they had three children: Christy (married to Steven Canfield), Nathan (married to Christina Hairgrove), and Jonathan (married to Rachel Hairgrove), along with nine grandchildren, Grace, Faith, Aiden, Hudson, Silas Canfield, Connor, and Megan Hairgrove, and Jackson and Liam Hairgrove.

The funeral will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022 at 2:30 P.M. at North Hills Church 4952 Edwards Rd, Taylors, SC 29607
