Jerry Joseph Capone, a man whose heart was as vast and colorful as the Carolina sky, bid us farewell on September 7th, 2023, at the young age of 64, He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and an unwavering spirit that touched the lives of everyone he encountered.
Born on November 27, 1958, in Forest Hills, New York, Jerry was a beacon of kindness and generosity. His journey through life was marked by an insatiable thirst for knowledge and an unwavering commitment to his passions.
Jerry's path led him from the bustling streets of New York to the halls of Tappan Zee High School and later to the SUNY Alfred, where he continued his quest for knowledge. He furthered his education at Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, SC, ultimately earning his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life Chiropractic College in Marietta, Georgia. For over three decades, Jerry selflessly served the community as a chiropractor at Capone Chiropractic in Pickens, South Carolina, touching countless lives with his healing hands.
A true Renaissance man, Jerry's interests knew no bounds. He was a skilled gunsmith, a role he excelled in as the Program Director for Piedmont Technical College's Gunsmithing Program. His love for history, particularly the Civil and Revolutionary Wars, led him to reenactments and brought history to life.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Jerry was a passionate Constitutionalist, a master carpenter, a meticulous surveyor, a gifted machinist, and a formidable hockey player. His marksmanship skills were unparalleled, earning him the title of Pro-Marksman. As a Life Boy Scout, he instilled the values of honor and respect in countless young lives.
Jerry's love for the open road and the roar of a Harley Davidson motorcycle was known to all. He cherished the freedom of the ride and the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts.
Jerry is survived by the loves of his life; his son, Joey, and wife, Kristin. His Brother Joe and Sisters, Joanne and Janet Joe's wife Liz and their children, Michael, Christopher, Catie, and John, and Joanne's son Ian.
Kristin's daughter Terah, her husband David, and their children Devon and McKenzie. Her sons, Lee and Cory, and Cory's son, Bryson.
His memory also lives on in the hearts of cousins Kim and Doug and their children, Noah, Lucas, and Olivia, as well as cousins Steven and Dianne and their children, Heather and Josh.
Jerry's presence will forever be felt in the stories, smiles, and shared moments that he generously gifted to all who knew him.
He is reunited in the heavens with his father, Joseph, and, more recently, his mother, June. In honor of Jerry's memory and to support the cause closest to his heart, please consider donating to the American Heart Association to help end heart disease.
