Jean Frances Switzer passed away on September 15, 2020, at the age of 94 after a short stay at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Jean was of the Christian faith and most recently attended services at the Philadelphia Church of God in upstate South Carolina. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Oliver F. “Frank” Switzer, her six children, Donald Strom (Heather) of North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, David Strom (Maryann) of Lockport, Illinois, Christopher Strom (Mary) of Greenville, South Carolina, Peter Strom (Barbara Ann) of Shaker Heights, Ohio, Barbara Asay (Gary) of Osco, Illinois, and Beverly Duquenne (Steve) of Cleveland, Ohio, twelve grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Harold and Wilhelmina Tait of London, England, and her sister Erica Tait, also of London.
Jean was born March 7, 1926 in the Hampton neighborhood of London, England. In London, she met her first husband, Norman N. Strom, an American US Army lieutenant housed at her home in London during World War II. They were married in 1946 as Jean moved from London to suburban St. Paul, Minnesota. All of Jean's six children were born between 1949 and 1958 and the family resided in suburban Chicago, Illinois starting in 1956.
Jean and Frank were married in 1973 and resided in suburban Chicago until 1985, when they moved to Greenville, South Carolina. They moved to Charleston, South Carolina later in 1985, then to Augusta, Georgia in 1986, and finally to Travelers Rest, South Carolina in 1992, where Frank still lives. Jean spent the last 22 months of her life at River Falls Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Marietta, South Carolina. The family wishes to thank the staff at River Falls, especially Megan, for the wonderful care they provided Jean during her stay.
