Jean (Bailey) Quillon, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away surrounded by her family on May 21, 2019, at the home of her daughter Carla in Greer, South Carolina.
Jean was born in Charlottesville, VA on October 17, 1937. She was the daughter of Homer Maxwell and Bertha Caroline (Houchens) Bailey. With former husband Ova John Quillon, Jr., she had four children: Barry Kim Quillon (Julie), Robin Lee Quillon (Cindy), Carla Jean Tanner (Dallas), and Adam Scott Quillon (Linda). In addition to her parents, two of her four children predeceased her (Barry and Adam).
She has many generations of grandchildren, including grandsons Michael and Keven (Barry); Candace Fox, Molly Fox, Caroline Ciralsky, and Ty (Robin); Amanda Maloney, Lindsey, Chelsea Johnson, Logan, and Dylan (Carla); Christina Gray, Ashley Bumgardner, and Ben (Adam).
Jean will be fondly remembered for her quick wit and fiery personality. She enjoyed old movies (especially thrillers and westerns), Dove Dark Chocolate, and music. Bob Dylan and Ray Price were in heavy rotation on her stereo. She was known for her soft southern accent, and her love of lipstick. She never left home without it! Jean was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served her Relief Society sisters as a visiting teacher. She enjoyed singing the hymns at church, especially the children’s songs, and could harmonize to any song without reading the notes. She had a strong love for the Lord that carried her through the end of her life.
A memorial service will be held in her honor in Greer, SC on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11:00am. It will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 1301 Boiling Springs Rd. Greer, SC 29650. A remembrance gathering will be held in Charlottesville, VA on June 22 for family and friends. Final services provided by Cremation Society of South Carolina.
