Jane C. Ayres

Jane C. Ayres passed away on Nov. 14, 2015 following a stroke suffered on her 94th birthday.  Jane was born, Jane Carmetia Chilson, on August 1, 1921.  She was the last surviving member of her family that included three brothers and three sisters.  Jane was born in Ulster, PA. as the daughter of Stewart & Carolyn Chilson.   Jane lived the majority of her life in Elmira, NY.  She is survived by many loving great-grandchildren, grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.   Jane will be long remembered for her caring, wit and devotion to family. She is pictured on her 93rd birthday.

The family wishes to thank the staffs at Saint Francis Hospital, Heartland East and Heartland Hospice for their care and services over the past three months.  In respect to Jane’s last wishes, only a private family prayer service will be held on Nov. 23 prior to cremation.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Jane’s memory to the charity of your choice.
