James William “ Jimmy “ Stewart, 81, of Liberty, South Carolina, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at his home. Born on September 1, 1936 in Liberty, South Carolina to his parents, James Wilda and Edith ( Gilstrap ) Stewart, he was a life long resident of the upstate and he retired from Liberty Denim in Liberty. He was the song leader at the Smith Chapel Wesleyan Church in Liberty for many years. He enjoyed music and he loved singing.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife and mother of his children, Mary Lois (Terry) Stewart; his sister, Eleanor Smith and his brother, Joe Stewart. Those who will most cherish his memory are his wife, Cornelia G. Stewart of Liberty, South Carolina; his daughters, Elizabeth Stewart of Liberty, South Carolina and Lisa Hendrix (Robert) of Central, South Carolina; his son, Daniel Stewart (Teressa) of Norris, South Carolina; his brothers, Charles Stewart (Peggy) of Liberty, South Carolina and Dale Stewart (Cindy) of Liberty, South Carolina; his sister, Jane Malphurs of Crescent City, Florida; seven grandchildren, Celeste Vickery, Kylie Johnson, Jewel Atkins, Jennifer Martin, Sarah Hamilton, Erin Stewart and Ginger Quinton; Numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Memorial Service to remember and honor Jimmy’s life will be at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Hilltop Wesleyan Church, 735 Golden Creek Road, Liberty, South Carolina 29657. Officiating will be Reverend Scott Uselman, pastor of the church. The family will have a reception at the church family life center following the service. Please send any flowers to the Church.
