James C. Smith

James C. Smith, 92, formerly of Belleview, Florida passed away peacefully August 19,2017. Survivors include his wife Esther Smith, three sons: Larry Smith, Joe Smith, James B. Smith, step children: Carolyn Johnsen, Margaret Windbourn, Christopher Johnsen and Stephen Johnsen, he is also survived by ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He obtained a Master’s Degree in Agriculture from the University of Florida. He was a member of The Kiwanis Club. Mr. Smith was with the Florida Public School System for over 29 years. He took pride in having the largest camellia nursery in Florida developing one variety of camellia named after his wife Esther Smith. Mr. Smith also had a camellia named after him by a friend.

Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am September 9, 2017 at Eastside Presbyterian Church, 830 Garlington Rd, Greenville, SC 29615. In lieu of flowers the family would like memorials to be made to Rally International, Po Box 2795 Inverness, Florida 34451 a 501c3 nonprofit organization for Michelle Smith his granddaughter located in Congo in the Missionary field.
