James Michael Robertson

February 24, 1957 — March 18, 2025

Travelers Rest, SC

James Michael Robertson, known affectionately as Michael to his friends and family, passed away on March 18, 2025, at the age of 68, in his hometown of Travelers Rest, South Carolina. Born on February 24, 1957, in the same close-knit community, Michael's life was a testament to the enduring bonds of family, friendship, and the simple joys that make a life well-lived.

Michael was a beloved husband to Rhonda Robertson, a devoted father to Jaime McLees (Chad) and Jason Michael Robertson, and a doting grandfather "Pop Pop" to Bryson (Kathryn), Carson, Jackson, and Addison McLees. He was predeceased by his mother, Barbara Jean Robertson, and father, R.C. Robertson. His loving presence will also be missed by his sister Brenda Ervin (Gene), sister Patricia Bennett, and his faithful canine companion, Mia Ann.

A proud graduate of Travelers Rest High School in 1975, Michael carried the spirit of his hometown throughout his life. He was a talented painter with an architectural eye, a skill that he applied with precision and passion in his work. His colleagues knew him as a man who could transform spaces with his brush, bringing color and life to every project he undertook.

Michael's interests were a reflection of his personality—kind, friendly, and generous. He was an avid collector, always on the lookout for unique finds. His love for Daytona Beach was well-known, as were his relaxing evenings spent watching his favorite westerns, "Gunsmoke" and "Bonanza." Friends and family rarely saw him without his signature ball cap, a true emblem of his easygoing nature.

Those who knew Michael understood that his heart was as expansive as the open skies he admired in his beloved westerns. He was the kind of man who greeted everyone with a warm smile and was always ready to lend a hand or share a kind word. His generosity extended beyond his immediate circle, touching the lives of many in the community.

Michael's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the quiet strength that comes from a life of sincere kindness. He was the rock of his family, a source of wisdom and comfort, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

As we bid farewell to James Michael Robertson, we celebrate a life that exemplified the best of us. His memory will be cherished, his stories retold with fondness, and his spirit will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Michael, you were truly one of a kind, and you will be missed more than words can express. Rest in peace, dear husband, father, Pop Pop, brother, and friend. Your journey has been a beacon of light for us all, and your memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who loved you.
