James Anthony Pietrowski

d. July 3, 2018

Jim Pietrowski left this earth on July 3, 2018, having bought every Hot Wheel produced, and is off to search for new sources. He was the reluctant co-parent of an ever-evolving family of feral and slightly feral cats. He had a broad knowledge base, ranging from Monty Python, obscure philosophies, and weather patterns to history past, present, and yet to be made. Jim liked to rock out to Pink Floyd and knew every lyric and factoid related to the band. He enjoyed torturing sensitive souls with his deadpan sarcasm and was known at work, home, and to his friends and family for his ability to create credible “facts” with such authority and confidence that no one ever really knew (without Wiki) if he was telling the truth or not. Jim truly was one of a kind. He strongly believed that beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

He was born on July 15,1969, in Bristol, Pennsylvania, and lived in more places than can be listed. He met the love of his life, Marla Wilson Pietrowski, while they were both stationed at Whidbey Island, Washington. He was a US Navy veteran and served aboard the USS America. Eventually, he and Marla settled back in her hometown of Anderson, SC, in a little yellow house that is home to the above mentioned colony of cats. He worked as an electrical technician at Itron for seven years where he enjoyed the many friendships he formed with his co-workers. Jim lovingly tolerated Marla’s fascination with UFOs, all things supernatural, and thrift stores.

Jim was predeceased by his father, Anthony Pietrowski; brother, Anthony Pietrowski Jr.; and nephew, Joshua Pietrowski. He is survived by his wife, Marla Wilson Pietrowski of Anderson, SC; mother, Sharon Pietrowski of Doylesville, PA; sister, Shari Fisher of Morrisville, PA; and brothers Tom Pietrowski of Kingsport,TN; Gene Pietrowski of Cresson, PA; William Pietrowski of Dickinson, ND; and Chuck Pietrowski of Harrogate, England.

He also leaves behind brother-in-laws Scott Fisher and Eric Hobbs, and sister-in-laws Brenda, Connie, Michelle, Bridgett, and Jennifer Pietrowski and Lisa Wilson (Hobbs). He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews who he enjoyed teasing and playing Hot Wheels with: Sheila, Jessica, and Gillian Pietrowski; Jessica Wilson Parks; Justin, Sam, and Jacob Fisher; and Gene, Sean, Luke, Isaiah, Malachi, and Elijah Pietrowski. We would be remiss not to mention his “adopted” daughter, Lily, born to friends, Tony and Wendy Adamson and his best buds, Marty Matura ,Van Duncan and David Brown.

He will be interred at MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, SC. Services will be held at a later date. We are still waiting for Jim to give us the “go” signal.

Jim would probably want to leave you with these words: “Don’t leave your Hot Wheels in the pack. Open them up and play with them.”
