James Ronald “Ronnie” Miles, 78, died Wednesday, May 8, 2019 peacefully at his home in Gray Court, SC from cancer.
He leaves behind a wife of 54 years, Melinda Dixon Miles; a son, James Scott “Smilie” Miles and his wife Karen of Greenville; a daughter, Jennifer Miles Clinton and her husband Patrick of Gray Court; a sister Deb Miles Pearsall and her husband Ken of Kihei, Hawaii and a granddaughter, Morgan Elizabeth Hess.
He was born and raised in Knoxville, TN where he graduated from Bearden High School in 1959. He served as a naval aviation aircraft mechanic from 1960-1964 in the Navy on the U.S.S. Essex Aircraft Carrier. He then returned to Knoxville where he met and married his wife. He had a long career in sales starting at Sears Roebuck in Knoxville, TN and ending at Pool and Spa Connection in Simpsonville, SC. After leaving Knoxville Ronnie attended biblical college where he earned an Associate’s Degree and learned to study, teach and share the Word of God. He was an ordained minister and a very active member of Powdersville Community Church where he taught Sunday school and bible study classes.
A memorial service will be held in honor of Ronnie’s life on May 25, 2019, 10:00am at Powdersville Community Church 300 S. Piedmont Hwy Piedmont, SC 29673
