James "Jim" Kirkpatrick

James (Jim) Kirkpatrick went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. Born February 16, 1939, in Waynesville, NC, he was the son of the late Albert and Bertie Rogers Kirkpatrick. Surviving are Jim’s soulmate Brenda Swaney, his three children Alan Kirkpatrick, Philip Kirkpatrick (Natalie) and Becky Kirkpatrick Patton (Brian), three grandchildren Blake Kirkpatrick, Kade Kirkpatrick and Allison Kirkpatrick, four great-grandchildren Emma, Olivia, Alec, and Renee, and numerous friends, including a special friend dear to his heart, Kerri McDonough.
In his younger years, James served his country in the Army Reserves. After receiving his calling into the Christian ministry, James earned a Doctorate in Theology and pastored several churches over a thirty-five-year span.
James never met a stranger. Anyone who has ever crossed paths with him knows this! Jim was notorious for playing jokes and innocently poking fun at friends and family. He loved a good laugh almost as much as a good cup of coffee! Jim is now resting in his eternal home. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held 3 pm Tuesday April 12th at the Covenant Baptist Church, 200 Evangel Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
