James "Jim" Edward Sneed

James Edward Sneed, known affectionately as Jim to his friends and family, passed away on August 10, 2024, in Greenville, SC. Born on December 19, 1941, in Richmond, Virginia, Jim was a man of exceptional kindness, intelligence, and generosity, whose presence enriched the lives of all who knew him.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth "Libby" Sneed. He is also survived by his children, James "Jimmy" Sneed, Christopher "Chris" Sneed, and Virginia "Ginny" Taylor. His love and guidance were the cornerstones of their family. Jim's sister, Margaret Dowdy, shared in the family's joys and sorrows, and his grandchildren, River, Stone, Sky, Ava Sneed and Callie Savage, along with step-grandchildren Cheyanne and Max Muro, will carry forward the legacy of his warmth and wisdom. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Betty Strange, who is the mother of his sons.

After completing his college education with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, Jim embarked on a distinguished career, culminating in his role as Vice President of Information Systems at Rockwell Automation. His professional achievements were paralleled by a commitment to his community, where he was known for his readiness to lend a hand or share his expertise with friends and family.

Jim's passion for the outdoors was evident to all who knew him. An avid hunter and fisherman, he found solace and joy in nature. His farm was not just a piece of land but a testament to his dedication to family activities and his desire to teach others about the beauty and intricacies of the outdoors. Jim's love for sports extended beyond the field, as he enjoyed a variety of sporting events and cherished the camaraderie and excitement they brought.

Traveling was another of Jim's pleasures, and he seized every opportunity to explore new places. These experiences only deepened his appreciation for the world and its diverse landscapes and peoples.

Jim's life was a reflection of the words that best describe him: kind, intelligent, and generous. His ability to listen, his willingness to help, and his constant pursuit of knowledge were qualities that defined him. He was a mentor to many, sharing his insights and wisdom freely, and his legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched.

In lieu of a funeral sevice, Jim's family held a small celebration of life for mostly family. We encourage others who want to honor him to take a minute as you walk through the woods or engage in his favorite activities to stop for a moment and reflect on a special memory.

In honoring Jim's life, we remember not just the milestones and achievements, but the everyday moments of joy and connection that he created. His was a life that exemplified the best of what it means to be human: to love, to share, to teach, and to be kind.
