James Randall Harris, age 79, passed away at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, SC, surrounded by his family on Tuesday October 29, 2019. He was born on September 18, 1940 in Lexington, NC to Luther Collins Harris and Thelma (Kennedy) Harris.
'Ron' Graduated from Curry High School in Greensboro, NC in 1958 where he also played football as quarterback . Ron was a member of the Student Council and a Jr Marshal of his class.
On October 2, 1965, he married Lydia Durinda Moore. Together, they had one son. Ron and Durinda enjoyed traveling and hiking together as well as spending time with family and close friends. He also enjoyed listening to Doo-Wop music. Ron was a Supervisor at the Greensboro, NC Bulk Mail Center where he also retired And then a second retirement with Asheville Radiology in Asheville NC.
Ron’s special interests and hobbies included reading and crossword puzzles, Ron was an avid fan of football, basketball and golf. Some of his favorite times out and about were early morning walks, landscaping and building almost anything just by sight. He was always a great provider for the family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Durinda; sons, Mark G. Harris, stepson Dal Alexander Butler II and a stepdaughter Connie Butler Good who passed on in March 2000. And a sister; Carol (Harris) Joyce who lives in Thomasville, NC
And many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family of James will be receiving friends and family at their home.
