James Wilburn 'Jim' Gentry, 87, died peacefully at his home off Highway 11, north of Travelers Rest, early Sunday morning, March 15, 2015, following a brief illness.
Mr. Gentry, who was self-employed, was the widower of Anne Owen Gentry. Their son Bruce predeceased them.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Jack Anderson of Travelers Rest; one grandson, Ash Foster-Lee; two granddaughters, Abigail Smith and Hannah Foster; three great granddaughters, Scarlett, Annabelle and Rowan Smith; three sisters, Wiltrice G. Cook of Gray Court, Ray Holland G. Henderson of Mauldin, and Mary G. Sloan of Simpsonville.
Mr. Gentry was a faithful member of Travelers Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Travelers Rest.
A memorial gathering will be held Friday, March 20 beginning at 4 PM at his home, 51 Hungate Drive off Highway 11. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Jim's memory to Travelers ARP Church. Cremation Society of SC is serving the family.
