James Daniel Eskew, affectionately known as Danny to his friends and family, left this world on May 1, 2024, at the age of 62. Born on February 16, 1962, in Greenville, South Carolina, he was a lifelong resident of the city he loved. Danny's passing, in the same town where he first drew breath, marks the end of a life lived with unwavering love, faith, and gentleness.
The Loving husband of Kelli Eskew, Danny was predeceased by his loving parents, Young Daniel and Dora Carolyn Eskew, and his brother Brian Scott Eskew. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his devoted sister-in-law, Trina Knight; his nephew, Nickolaus Eskew and wife Jessica; his niece Cecily Fernander and her husband Jake, along with their children Olivia and Jaxson Fernander, who adored their great-uncle. He will also be deeply missed by his sister-in-law, Andrea Aymond and her husband Jim; their daughters, Nicole Buckheister (Tyler) and their daughter Lila, as well as Caitlin and Emily Aymond; and several loving cousins who were an integral part of his extended family.
An alumnus of North Greenville University, Danny's commitment to nutrition and well-being steered him into a fulfilling career as a dietician. His love for food extended beyond his profession. He had a thriving catering business that allowed him to share his culinary passion with the community. His involvement with the EMH School in West Greenville was a testament to his dedication to service and love for his community.
Danny’s interests were as rich and varied as the recipes he loved to create. A culinary expert, he could often be found experimenting in the kitchen, conjuring up dishes that delighted the senses and warmed the heart. His hands were equally skilled at crafting intricate model cars and trains, a hobby that reflected his meticulous nature and patience. As an ardent Clemson fan, Danny's spirit and enthusiasm were infectious, whether he was cheering from the stands or from his living room.
His love for music was evident to all who knew him. Danny loved to sing, and his voice was a familiar comfort in places of worship and community gatherings. His presence will be missed by his breakfast companions at the local McDonald's, where he enjoyed starting his day with good food and great friends.
Danny was a pillar in his church, a man whose faith was as much a part of him as his gentle smile. His love for cooking was only matched by his love for his church family, and he often blessed them with his delicious dishes during gatherings and events.
Those who knew Danny will remember him as a loving and faith-filled soul, a gentle presence in their lives who was always ready with a kind word or a helping hand. His legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and an unshakable belief in the goodness of others.
As the sun sets on Danny's time with us, we take comfort in knowing that he lived a life full of purpose, love, and laughter. His impact will be felt for generations, and his memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
James Daniel Eskew's life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, and while he will be profoundly missed, the love he shared will continue to resonate within the hearts of his family and friends.
